From the N2 take the Umkomaas- Widenham off-ramp. At the stop street turn left, then travel a few hundred metres to the first left. Turn signposted Sappi/Saiccor. Continue down a steep hill for just over 1 km, turn left at the T- junction at the bottom of the hill and then left again through an unmarked gap in the fence. follow the track for about 400 m to the parking and picnic area.

This 120 ha reserve contains 50 ha of pristine coastal forest and 70 ha of old canefields being converted to grasslands. there is a marshland consisting of a dense stand of Phragmites reeds and nearer to the picnic site. The grassy southern slopes with scattered acacia trees are a constant challenge to keep free of weeds. There are also the occasional Cheesewood, Pigeonwood & Red beech. Various types of mammals and birds exist here.

South Coast, Scottburgh. Off the Old Main South Coast road, turn into the reserve just north of the Mpambinyoni River Bridge. Some 80 species of indigenous trees have been identified and named and several hundred more were donated and planted out in the rehabilitated areas. Grasslands have been restored. Picnic sites, braai facilities and toilets have been built. An entrance gatehouse and a building to be used as a resource centre, constructed. Work on eradication of alien plants continues.

Umdoni Park

South Coast, south of Pennington. On the seaward side of the Old South Coast Main Road. Turn off at Pennington and continue down Pennington Drive until the sign indicating a turn-off to the right to Mmdoni Park and Golf course.

Golf course, small bathing beach with tidal pool, braai sites and ablution blocks. abundant flora and fauna and plentiful bird life.
